Which route is right for your company?
Every company in difficulty falls into one of two situations: the business can be saved, or it needs to be closed down properly. Start with the one that sounds like yours, or call us and we will tell you which applies.
Rescue the company
The business is viable but weighed down by historic debt. There are procedures that protect the company from creditors and give it room to recover and keep trading.
Close the company properly
The company has no realistic future, or it is solvent and has served its purpose. A liquidation brings it to an orderly end and settles matters with creditors or shareholders.
Facing something specific right now?
What happens when you call NTF
The first call to NTF is a plain conversation with a licensed insolvency practitioner, not a sales pitch. We work in three simple steps so you always know what comes next.
- 1
Tell us where you are
You explain the position and the pressures on the company. Nothing is decided and everything is confidential.
- 2
We review the options
We look at the debts, the assets and whether the business is viable, then set out the procedures that genuinely fit.
- 3
You choose the way forward
You decide with clear advice in hand. If you appoint us, we carry out the procedure and deal with creditors for you.

What does an insolvency practitioner do?
A licensed insolvency practitioner is a professional authorised to take formal appointments over an insolvent or solvent company, such as a liquidation, administration or company voluntary arrangement. At NTF our practitioners are licensed by the ICAEW and act under the Insolvency Act 1986 to review your position, advise on the right procedure and carry it out properly.
Is the first conversation free and confidential?
Yes. The first conversation with NTF is free, confidential and carries no obligation. We will listen to your situation, explain the options open to your company in plain English, and tell you honestly where you stand before you decide anything.
Can my company be rescued, or does it have to close?
Whether a company can be rescued depends on whether the underlying business is viable once its historic debt is dealt with. A viable company can often be saved through a company voluntary arrangement or administration, while a company with no realistic future is usually closed through a creditors voluntary liquidation. We tell you which applies to yours.
What happens to me as a director if my company is insolvent?
When a company is insolvent your duties as a director shift towards protecting creditors, and acting early is what keeps you on the right side of those duties. Taking advice from a licensed insolvency practitioner promptly is the single most important step, because it reduces the risk of wrongful trading and personal liability.
